Southern Ferro Limited (SFL) was founded in Hubli, Karnataka in the year 1972 by Shri M S Bidasaria. The name of the company in 1972 was Ferro Concrete Company of India and it was started as a partnership firm. The unit was founded with a very small capital base of Rs 5 lakhs and the items produced at that time was Tor Steel which was used in construction industry.

In 1992, the firm was converted into a joint stock company and renamed as Southern Ferro Limited. Melting facility was added and rolling capacity was enhanced in 1995. The product mix of the company was also changed to Structural Steel in 1995.

The company has expanded and added more and more structural steel items over the years and now produces 56 sizes of Angles, Square Bars, Flats, Rounds and Z angle. The company is the sole producer of Z angle in South India.

The Company joined hands with Kamdhenu Limited in 2017 and started marketing its products under the banner of Kamdhenu Steels for better market reach.
